For 1-3 days we hunt on reputable estates in the north of Scotland, in the middle of the rut when the deer are most active. We hunt on foot in the open terrain, often with long approaches in challenging weather and wind - a form of hunting that requires both focus and physical effort.
The hunt is conducted with the help of experienced Scottish stalkers, and transportation into the mountains is by agile ARGO vehicles before continuing on foot. We aim to harvest older or smaller stags as part of local game management, leaving the largest animals that are not yet returning. One red deer per hunter is included in the trip, and there is the option to purchase additional hunts if desired.
Our tour guide will meet you at the airport and take care of everything during the week - accommodation, transfer to the lodge, food and planning. We stay in a classic lodge with full board and good community. When the hunt is over, there are opportunities to fish in the local river, visit historic castles, sample some of Scotland's most famous whisky distilleries or why not visit the local pub.
This is more than just hunting - it's a journey filled with nature, tradition and Scottish heritage. A journey for those seeking authentic Highland hunting, culture and world-class scenery.
Good to know!
You can bring your own gun to Scotland, although it is more complicated than in the rest of Europe after Brexit. We recommend borrowing guns on site. These guns are good quality 270win, 308win, 30-06 with appropriate optics and silencers and leg rests.
If you want to bring your own weapon, we will help with this as well. Costs associated with this are paid by the traveler.

What is a Shooting fee:
A trapping fee is a cost incurred when a game animal is trapped during a hunting trip. The fee is often based on the animal's trophy size, species, sex, weight - for example, the shape of its horns or tusks. Trapping fees are a common part of hunting management in many countries and serve as an important incentive for responsible hunting.
Why are there Shooting fees:
Shooting fees are an important part of the setup of many of our trips, and they enable responsible and long-term wildlife management. The revenue from these fees is used by local hunting organizations to fund all their activities - from inventory and game management to land maintenance, staff salaries, game damage prevention and administration. Without shooting fees, it would be difficult to conduct hunting that is both sustainable and well-organized.
Important to consider:
The amount of the shooting fee depends on what is shot. In some cases, there is a fixed price per game, while in others it is determined by the type and size of the trophy. It is also important to note that in some cases, game shot or injured and not found may be subject to a fee.
And remember - hunting is hunting. There are no guarantees about what will happen during the hunting days. Game movements, weather conditions, hunting luck and other factors always come into play. This is what makes hunting alive, exciting and real.
Another important factor is the hunter's own skill. Experience, reaction time, accuracy and the ability to read the terrain vary greatly between different hunters. Our job is to create the best possible conditions through well-organized arrangements and experienced guides - but the hunt itself and the result are always on nature's and the hunter's terms.
On the payment of trap fees:
Payment is generally made as follows: When you return from your trip, you will receive a summary list of the game you have killed and the total amount of the trapping fees, in your booking portal. This sum must be paid within three days, unless otherwise agreed. The measurement of any trophies is usually done by the organizer and forms the basis of the final fee.
Our promise to you:
At Waidmann, transparency and security are always in focus. You will be fully informed about what is included in your hunting trip and what possible trapping fees may apply - no surprises. We only work with professional and reputable operators who work according to clear and ethical guidelines. You can rest assured that everything is correct, so you can focus on the hunt and the experience.
When you book a hunting trip with Waidmann Hunting Tours , you can opt for our flight package for an additional cost, making your trip both more comfortable and safer. The flight package includes a round-trip airline ticket and transfers between the airport and your accommodation, so you can easily get to and from the hunting area.
The package also includes our Safety Guarantee, which protects you against unforeseen events and gives you extra peace of mind during your trip. This option is perfect for those who want a smooth and safe overall solution where all the practicalities are taken care of.

The trip starts with a comfortable flight from Sweden to Scotland. Upon arrival, you will be picked up at the airport by your tour guide, who will drive you up to the lodge. He will be with you throughout the week and make sure all the details are taken care of.
During the trip, everything is arranged for you - from hunting and transportation to meals and other activities. The guide will help and take care of everything, giving you the opportunity to focus on the hunt and the amazing nature. Upon arrival, you will receive an introduction to the area and the hunt, and then the week will be filled with hunting experiences, fishing, excursions to whiskey distilleries and castles.
Fishing and other activities - Discover Scotland beyond hunting
Beyond hunting, Scotland offers an incredible natural experience with its vast landscapes, grand castles and famous whisky distilleries. If you want to take a break from hunting or if the hunt is fast and successful, there are several other activities to explore.
Just outside the lodge runs a large river where you have the opportunity to fish. Equipment is available to borrow, so you can easily spend a few hours with rod in hand enjoying the peaceful environment. The fishing season runs until October 15, so there's plenty of time to try your luck.
For those who want to discover more of Scotland, there are opportunities to visit local whisky distilleries, historic castles and other attractions during the week. A day trip on Thursday is tentatively planned, to give everyone the chance to finish their hunt and enjoy these cultural experiences.
Car rental - Freedom to explore
For those who want extra freedom and flexibility during the week, we offer the option to upgrade to a rental car. The rental car is picked up directly at the airport on arrival and can be used throughout your stay. This gives you the opportunity to explore everything from nearby villages and castles to hunting shops and whisky distilleries at your own pace.
The cost of the rental car varies depending on the type of car, but is usually around £1,000 per day for a fully insured mid-range car. With a rental car, you can also have a genuine Scottish lunch in a pub or find your own fishing spots to explore. Keep in mind that traffic in Scotland drives on the left, so be prepared for this when driving.
Day 1: Departure for the Scottish Highlands!
The adventure begins! After arriving in Scotland, you will be met at the airport by your tour guide and transfer driver, who will take you north through the beautiful Scottish countryside. Already during the car journey, the pace starts to slow down and the first impressions of the dramatic highlands make themselves felt.
You'll check into a classic British lodge - a secluded and charming spot with stunning views of the rolling countryside and the river flowing below. Here you'll find accommodation that combines traditional Scottish character with the comforts needed to truly relax after long days in the mountains.
The evening is rounded off with a welcome dinner prepared and served by your host. A first insight into Scottish cuisine and a perfect opportunity to get to know your travel companions, recharge for the week and enjoy the tranquility that only the Highlands can offer. Then a good night's sleep awaits for tomorrow's hunt.
Days 2-4: The start of the hunting days
After waking up in the stunning surroundings, we start the day with a delicious breakfast that will give us all the energy we need to take on a day filled with adventure and experiences.
More breakfast and you set off on the day's adventure. For those who hunt, you are usually picked up directly at the lodge by their Gamekeepers who take you out on the mountains. If you fish, you go straight from the lodge down to even, while those of you who are going to visit the local tweed shop, or castle or maybe a Whsike tasting, you leave with your tour guide or with your own rental car.
Day 5: We thank Scotland for this magical hunting adventure.
After days filled with hunting, fishing and good times, it is now time to say goodbye to Scotland. We gather for a final breakfast, where we remember the wonderful adventures and laughter we shared. It is with a sense of gratitude that we look back on a great time and carry with us the memories of an unforgettable hunting and fishing experience. See you again, Scotland!
During your stay, you'll stay in a classic British lodge, beautifully situated in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. The lodge offers magnificent views of the mountains, and a river runs below, creating a peaceful and natural atmosphere - perfect after a day in the mountains. Brora, a charming little village with shops and pubs, is only 20 minutes away.
You will be staying with a party of around 10 hunters, and accommodation is generally in shared double rooms. The lodge is rustic and genuine, but offers good comfort with spacious bedrooms, drying rooms, functional bathrooms and common areas where you can socialize in front of a crackling fire.
Our dedicated tour leaders are on hand throughout the week to ensure you have a comfortable and memorable experience. They are also responsible for all meals. Each morning starts with a classic English breakfast - hearty and energizing, perfect for the day's hunt.
In the evening, homemade two- or three-course dinners are served, often prepared with local ingredients. Wine is served with dinner, while other drinks such as beer or whiskey can be purchased locally or brought along. The guides will help coordinate any purchases.
Lunch consists of a simple packed lunch - sandwiches, fruit and snacks - which is packed in the morning and taken out into the field. There is no seated lunch served in the lodge, giving you the freedom to focus entirely on hunting and nature during the day.
The water in Scotland can usually be drunk directly from the tap, but if you have a sensitive stomach, we recommend buying bottled water in shops.

Hunting takes place on a variety of private estates in the northern Highlands of Scotland - all with similar character and a sense of unspoiled wilderness. These estates cover huge areas, often between 10,000 and 30,000 hectares, allowing for genuine Stalking in magnificent scenery.
The landscape is typical of the Scottish Highlands: open moorland, gently rolling hills, deep valleys and sweeping vistas. Here, red deer roam freely across the land, often in small groups. There are plenty of red deer, and you will usually shoot at least one red deer per day with a guide.
Hunting is done with the support of local, experienced gamekeepers, who know the land inside out. We mainly target older or smaller deer, while capital animals that have not yet reached their full potential are saved according to their game management.
However, the weather plays a big role
The Scottish Highlands are known for their rapid changes in weather, and fog in particular can severely affect hunting. In dense fog, visibility can become so limited that the hunt must be temporarily paused. It's a natural part of the experience and helps make every deer shot feel truly deserved.
Hunting Scottish red deer in the classic Highlands is an experience like no other. You'll be hunting in one of Europe's most fabled landscapes - with magnificent views, rapid changes in the weather and a natural wildlife population that moves freely across thousands of hectares. It's a form of hunting that challenges and rewards, and for many is a dream to experience.
Unlike traditional red deer hunting in woodland on the continent, hunting in Scotland takes place mainly in open spaces, high up in the Highlands. The animals are usually smaller in body and trophy size than their European relatives, but size is not the main focus. Here, hunting is about ethics, tradition and game management, with a focus on taking older deer or those with weaker dispositions - and thus contributing to a healthy population.
How the hunt works
The hunt takes place in pyrsch form and usually in a 2:1 arrangement - that is, two hunters per guide, one stalker. In the morning, you are driven out into the fields with ARGO, a tracked off-road vehicle that can handle the tough terrain. Once you reach the right area, the hunt continues on foot. The stealth hunt is intense and physical, often over large differences in altitude, with the wind as a constant player - or opponent.
The stalker guides you through the landscape, identifying the right deer according to the land's management objectives and helping to set up a stalking strategy. Once a suitable animal is found, the real challenge begins: to get within shooting range without being spotted, against the wind, over open mountains and sometimes in strong winds or fog.
The hunt takes place until your allocated deer is shot, which often happens on the first or second day, as there are generally plenty of deer in the area. If you want to shoot another deer, that possibility exists. To guarantee availability, it must be pre-booked.
Weather is an important factor in Scotland. Fog can roll in quickly over the mountains and if visibility is too poor, the hunt may have to be temporarily suspended. It's a natural part of highland hunting and part of what makes the experience so authentic.
Hunting in Scotland isn't just about taking a deer - it's about becoming part of a vibrant hunting culture, surrounded by history, nature and a respect for wildlife that is evident at every step.

Extend your hunting experience and get even more opportunities to hunt on these amazing lands. Add more Stags and hunting days and continue your hunt in this unforgettable environment. For each additional Red Deer, hunting and hunting guide are included until the deer is harvested.
A perfect opportunity for those who want to make the most of every hunting opportunity while enjoying even more days in this magical landscape.
For those who want extra freedom and flexibility during the week, we offer the option to upgrade to a rental car.
The rental car is collected directly from the airport on arrival and can be used throughout your stay. This allows you to explore everything from nearby villages and castles to hunting shops and whisky distilleries at your own pace.
Scotland is not only known for its dramatic scenery and stately red deer - it's also home to some of the world's most iconic whisky distilleries
In the immediate vicinity of the lodge, several distilleries offer guided tours and tastings, often in authentic and historic settings. Here you can learn how Scotch whisky is made, from barley and peat smoke to maturation in oak casks - and of course taste the results. Many distilleries also offer small shops where you can buy bottles to take home, often varieties that are only sold on site.
We usually plan a joint excursion day, usually towards the end of the week, for those who have finished their hunt. Then there is a chance to visit a distillery together, perhaps in combination with a castle visit. For those who wish, there is also the opportunity to explore more distilleries on their own, especially if you choose to upgrade to a rental car.
Daniel DaSilva joined us in Scotland in the fall of 2023 for a red deer hunt on one of our most beautiful lands.
Of course, hunting videos were recorded from this trip... These videos will be released shortly on Youtube and will be posted here as well.
What a fantastic day! I'm in Scotland with Waidmann hunting red deer. An incredible experience and a long time dream that is now coming true.
The highlands here are absolutely beautiful. High mountains covered in heather and ferns, streams and rapids winding through the valleys and deer roaring in the distance. Could it get any better?
After a long day of stalking different groups, after an intense approach, crawling on my belly through heather and mud, I managed to get a shot on this beautiful deer. The shot took as it should and the deer remained in place.
A magical experience that I will always remember and that I share with my friend Mini and lovely Rasmus.
And the fact that it's all on film doesn't make it any worse. So keep an eye out for upcoming hunting movies from the Scottish Highlands.
Booking a hunting trip is often a long-awaited experience - and with the right preparation, it will be smooth, safe and memorable. Here are some key tips and advice to help you get the most out of your trip:
Choose the right hunt for you
Whether you are an experienced hunter or traveling for the first time, we will help you find the right trip based on your goals, experience and hunting style. Do you want to experience the thrill of a Monteria in Spain, a stealth hunt in Hungary or perhaps a wake hunt for wild boar? We will guide you in the right direction.
Be flexible - Hunting is Hunting
Hunting is always on nature's terms. The weather, the movement of the game and other circumstances can affect the outcome. Although the hunt is the goal, it is often the experience itself - the nature, the camaraderie and the thrill - that becomes the strongest memory.
We're with you all the way
When you book with Waidmann, you get access to a dedicated team with extensive experience in hunting travel. We're on hand before, during and after your trip - whether you need help with trip selection, documentation, gun logistics or something unexpected along the way.
Before your departure
Once you have booked your dream hunting trip with us, you will receive a booking confirmation by email. After that, we will ask you for some additional information, depending on your destination and type of hunting. Your trip will be saved in your Booking Portal where you can manage payments and find additional information for your trip.
For travel outside Europe, we send you two departure letters: the first one about two months before departure and the second one with all the final information, about 40 days before departure, in connection with the final payment. For travel within Europe, we send you a single departure letter around 40 days before departure.
In these departure letters you will find everything you need for your trip, from packing lists and clothing recommendations to tips, offers and information on additional pre-departure details. You will receive your flight tickets around 14 days before departure.
During your departure
During your hunting trip, it is good to keep track of any trapping fees. These are available both here on the website and in your booking portal. We are available on WhatsApp in the group we create a few days before departure, throughout your trip to help if needed or answer questions.
Tip. We really appreciate it when you share pictures and stories from your experiences.
After your departure
Once you are back home, full of impressions and memories of the hunt, trap fees may apply. These will be sent to you within 24 hours of your return and need to be paid immediately.
If you have chosen to bring trophies home, you will be contacted by our trophy management contact, who will inform you about the process, costs and next steps. Please note that depending on the country, it can take up to 2 years before your trophies are fully assembled and at your home. We always follow up and make sure you feel safe all the way, even after the journey is over.
Booking a hunting trip with Waidmann means security, quality and passion. We are one of Sweden's leading organizers of exclusive hunting trips and offer tailor-made experiences where every detail is carefully planned. With our personalized service, experienced guides and close partnerships with carefully selected hunting areas in Europe and Africa, we ensure that you get a hunting trip that exceeds your expectations - whether it's your first trip or your tenth.
With us, you're not just hunting - you're experiencing something bigger.
After the hunt, we ensure that your trophy is handled professionally and according to all applicable rules. Our local partners are responsible for the initial handling - often boiling and preparing for transportation. If you choose a more advanced mount, such as a bow mount, this is often carried out directly on site by local taxidermists. After that, export documents, veterinary certificates and customs documents are handled in cooperation with our experienced freight forwarders.
Waidmann offers help with the entire process - from on-site handling to transportation home. We are there to support you every step of the way and are happy to provide advice on installation and the choice of conservator. At the same time, you as a customer have full freedom to choose to manage the process on your own if you prefer.
The delivery time for trophies varies depending on the country of hunting and the type of trophy, but we will keep you updated throughout the process.
Going on a hunting trip means new experiences and memories for life. Unfortunately, it's not possible to control everything that happens, and sometimes unexpected things happen that can cause problems. So it's good to be insured both before and during your trip.
Often the travel protection included in home insurance and credit cards does not cover everything you need or want.
To make you feel as safe as possible when traveling with us, we have chosen to cooperate with Europeiska ERV, which has over 100 years in the industry. Together with Europeiska ERV, we offer their Travel Insurance Plus and Cancellation Protection. If you want to know more or want to take out an insurance, please contact us and we will help you with this.
The rules for using silencers vary from country to country. In Sweden and many other European countries, silencers are allowed and often recommended for hunting. However, in some countries, such as Spain, Poland, Serbia and Croatia, they are prohibited.
When you book a trip with Waidmann, you will always be given clear information about what applies in the hunting country in question.
Traveling with hunting weapons is possible, but it requires proper documentation and planning. Exactly what is needed depends on the country you are traveling to, but in general the following applies:
European travel: For hunting trips within the EU, a European firearms pass is required, which you apply for at the Police. We recommend that you apply directly when booking, as the processing time can be several weeks. You also need to notify Swedish Customs that you are taking your firearm out of the country. In most cases, a special invitation or hunting license is also required from the country you are going to hunt in - we at Waidmann will make sure you get this in good time.
Read more on the Police website
Travel outside the EU: For example, for Africa or other continents, a temporary arms export via the Swedish Customs is usually required, as well as a hunting license, invitation and sometimes a temporary import license. Rules vary from country to country, but Waidmann ensures that everything is handled correctly from the start, so you avoid uncertainty and hassle upon entry.
Air transportation: Your weapon must be transported in an approved, lockable gun case or bag. Ammunition is packed separately according to the airline's security rules. Weapon transportation must be notified to the airline in advance - if Waidmann books your flight, we will handle this notification and the entire process for you.
Waidmann has extensive experience in hunting trips with weapons and is with you throughout the process. You will receive clear instructions and the right documentation in good time before departure. If you want to travel without your own weapon, it is often possible to rent weapons on site, depending on the destination.
You can definitely book as a solo hunter with Waidmann! We offer both planned trips for single hunters, as well as small and large groups.
We welcome all hunters, whether you are alone or traveling with a group. Many of our hunters find that a hunting trip is a great opportunity to make new friends in hunting. Several of our 'bonded' groups have continued to hunt together years after their first hunting trip with Waidmann.
For those looking for a more personalized experience, we tailor hunting trips for both individual hunters and smaller groups. We also arrange trips for larger groups, where we adapt the experience to the specific needs and wishes of the group. In addition, we have the opportunity to combine several smaller groups to create a common hunting experience, which provides both variety and community.
Whether you are traveling alone or with a group, you can be sure that at Waidmann we will customize your trip to give you the best possible experience.
Booking a hunting trip with Waidmann is easy and we offer several convenient payment options. Here are the steps for booking and payment:
Booking and booking portal: Once you have booked your hunting trip, you will have access to your personal booking portal. In the booking portal, you pay a booking fee of 30% of the total amount of the trip, which must be paid within 10 days for the booking to be confirmed.
In the booking portal, you manage your entire trip - you fill in your contact details, make payments and receive ongoing updates and all important information before departure. Everything in one place.
Flight booking: If Waidmann books the flight for you, the flight cost is paid in full as a second payment at the time of booking the flight.
Final payment: The remaining amount is paid closer to departure, and the final payment must be made at least 40 days before departure.
Trap fees, if any: If there are trap fees, these are payable 24 hours after returning from the trip.
Payment: You can easily pay by card, Trustly, Swish or invoice. If you would like an invoice, please contact us and we will arrange it for you.
Cancellation: In case of cancellation, the following cancellation fees apply:
30% of the price of the trip between the time of booking and 40 days before departure.
100% of the price of the trip between 39 days before departure and the day of departure itself.
Flights: If the flight is booked by Waidmann and you cancel the trip, the flight price is paid at 100%.
We recommend that you take out cancellation insurance, especially for exclusive or long-distance trips, to protect yourself against unforeseen events. We offer cancellation cover through ERV.
For questions about payment, booking or cancellation, you are always welcome to contact us. We are here to help you through the whole process.
We recommend that you book your hunting trip at least 6-18 months in advance, especially if you have specific preferences for the type of hunt, destination or timing. Some trips, such as those to popular destinations in high season or with a limited number of places, book up quickly.
However, it is often no problem to book at short notice, as long as there is availability. We have good experience of helping hunters out at short notice when the opportunity exists.
For exclusive or tailor-made hunting trips, as well as trips outside Europe that require more extensive documentation and planning, it is a clear advantage to be in the know well in advance. It gives us a better chance of securing the best hunting grounds, accommodation and flight connections - and you'll have plenty of time to arrange permits, gun exports and other preparations at your leisure.
Absolutely, many of our guests are making their very first hunting trip abroad with us. We have a lot of experience in looking after first-timers and making sure you feel safe throughout the process.
We help you with everything from choosing the right type of hunt and destination to preparation, documentation and equipment. During the trip, you will always have access to experienced guides and organizers who will support you both practically and mentally in the hunt.
For those who do not have their own equipment or want to travel light, it is usually possible to rent weapons and other equipment on site. We also adapt the level of difficulty, organization and expectations to your level of experience.
Whether it's your first hunting trip or you've been out many times before, we'll make sure you have a personalized and professionally executed experience.
