Waidmann only stands for ethical and sustainable hunting on its trips

Sustainability
Sustainable hunting is the only thing we work on for the simple reason that we want to continue creating memories and experiences for hunters for years to come.

Hunting ethics
We have taken our starting point in the Swedish Hunters' Association's letter on hunter behavior when we reason and evaluate the ethical perspective in our hunts.

At the same time, we are humbled by the fact that we must also take the custom wherever we go. Around the world, as a hunter, you will encounter many beautiful and respectful rituals that are part of your experience as a hunter in a new country.

Hunters' behaviour

Hunter-like behavior in relation to the game, fellow hunters and the public is also a way of describing good hunting ethics. Being a hunter during the hunt means carrying a number of unwritten rules with you:

Give the animal a chance. Good hunting means that there is always a chance for the animal to escape you.

You will soon find that your reflection on the animal's "cunning" is a big part of the enjoyment of the hunt.

All game has equal value.
Treat game with the same respect from the smallest teal to the largest bull moose, for example in terms of hunting methods, hunting shots (the first shot should be lethal), any search, recovery and transportation. When talking about animals, use language that shows that you regard all species with the same respect.

Never take a chance with a shot.
Don't shoot unless you are fully convinced that it is the right animal and/or that the shot is directly lethal. It is your decision and no one else's whether to shoot or not. It follows that you should never blame a fellow hunter for passing up a shooting opportunity.

Refrain from shooting.
You do not always have to shoot, even if the animal in question is allowed and the shooting situation is good. Follow recommendations and instructions to save animals that are important for wildlife management and definitely do not shoot mother animals that have mother-dependent young. Always shooting the smallest animal first when more animals arrive is called 'hunter's shooting'.

Clear safety behavior.
Demonstrate clear safety behavior towards fellow hunters and the public so that no one has to worry.

Show humility.

Respect the public's desire to use the right of public access and the fact that not everyone likes hunting. But do not accept that anyone actively prevents you from hunting.

Treat fallen game with respect.
Keep the animal clean and hygienic. Wipe away blood on fur and feathers. Game should be hung or laid neatly and tidily. Birds are hung or carried by the head and smaller hairy game is carried by the hind legs.

Hunting in moderation.
Tax the game stocks according to the yield of your hunting ground and the tolerance of the game stocks. Do not attract game from neighboring lands to extensive border game fields and/or feeding facilities.

Never mix alcohol and hunting.

Increasing biodiversity.
Hunting is an important part of promoting biodiversity. For example, in almost every country in the world, legislators use hunting as a means of ensuring the survival of other species, limiting invasive alien species, but also protecting species from extinction. This is something we obviously take into account in all hunting opportunities.

PARTNERS WHO TAKE WHAT WE THINK IS IMPORTANT EQUALLY SERIOUSLY.

By only working with partners that are affiliated with national organizations and collaborations, we largely ensure that our hunts are managed as expected. A good example is NAPHA in Namibia, the president of the organization is a close partner of ours and the work that NAPHA does ensures that we do not under any circumstances contribute to hunting and management that is contrary to the region's guidelines. NAPHA like many of its corresponding organizations an extremely important part in everything from control to advice on how wildlife management should be done to give the animals the best conditions.

All Waidmann trips are carbon offset.

For us, climate compensation is part of who we are. Contributing to reducing emissions is not a matter of pure conscience, but is based on the motto that no one can do everything, but everyone can do something.

Through a collaboration with the climate experts at South Pole, we calculate the actual emissions from our trips each year and then invest in the corresponding amount of CO2 emissions through certified projects that reduce emissions on earth.

You can read more about how we work in practice on the website of our parent company INTOIT website.
