Hunting trip in Spain

Join us for a traditional hunting experience in Monteria, Spain. This is a unique and memorable form of hunting that differs from the traditional driven hunts in the rest of Europe.

In Spain, it is legal to hunt with dogs in an area once a year. Therefore, many hunters and dogs come together to make the hunt as efficient as possible. Usually Monteria is carried out in relatively large areas with 20-30 hunters and 400-500 dogs. In this way, a significant effort is made to control the game population once a year and then allow both the game and the land to recover for the rest of the year.

During our various Monterias, we can kill anything from 50 to over 300 animals per group. The number varies depending on the size of the group and the area where we hunt. The game species we hunt are usually red deer and wild boar and in some areas there are fallow deer and mouflon sheep.

We work with professional hunting organizations on site that have extensive experience in organizing Monteria in Spain. They have extensive experience in the areas where we hunt and are committed to giving our guests a great experience. These experts accompany us throughout the trip and make sure that all our guests are satisfied and happy by ensuring a safe and efficient hunting experience.

For three days we hunt red deer and wild boar using the classic Monteria method of hunting.

As Monteria is a form of hunting and not a specific location, we offer different areas for the hunt. This means that each of our Monterias can vary significantly in terms of hunting location and accommodation. Sometimes we stay in city hotels and sometimes in charming lodges in the hunting grounds.

As a rule, our packages include a double room, but if you want a single room we can usually arrange it on request, although the number of single rooms available may be limited, especially at the lodges.

During Monterian we hunt one sow per day. This means that we start the hunt a little later in the morning and stay on duty for three to four hours before finishing with a nice lunch in the hunting ground.

A hunting trip to Spain during a Monteria is so much more than just an exciting and successful hunt. It is a social and enjoyable trip filled with wildlife experiences, delicious food, exquisite wines, often brilliant sunshine, beautiful scenery and lots of laughter.

If you want to experience something that is different from the traditional driven hunting experiences in the rest of Europe, Monteria is really something to recommend. It is an unforgettable and awesome experience that you should definitely experience at least once in your life!

THE LAYOUT OF THE STAND

The morning at the Monterian starts around 08.00 with a light breakfast at the accommodation. After recharging with energy, we then set off for the hunting grounds.

At the hunting ground, you will be greeted by tents and beautifully set tables, where tapas and sometimes a second, traditional breakfast at the Monteria are served. Then it's time for the exciting raffle of the day's pass. Each hunter is also assigned a personal secretary who will assist you during the day's hunting adventure. You will also receive a package containing some well-chosen drinks and tapas to enjoy during the session.

Once everyone is deployed, you'll be told where your pass neighbors are and which shooting directions are prohibited. Then it's time to start the hunt. The session lasts 3-5 hours, giving you plenty of time to enjoy your tapas and drinks between shots. It's a time to take in the beauty of nature and prepare for exciting moments on the pass. Monteria is truly an experience that combines hunting, community and enjoyment of the Spanish cuisine and landscape.

After a hopefully successful hunt, it is time to end the hunt. The game patrols take care of the felled game while the shooters go to the collection point. Here you will be welcomed by a nice Spanish lunch and a drink. It is usually beautifully laid out with white tablecloths on tables in the open air.

The atmosphere is great, and everyone has exciting hunting experiences to share. Once everyone has enjoyed a good meal, it's time for the game parade and thanksgiving. This is an opportunity to admire the animals killed and to celebrate hunting as a community.

After the grand parade, it's back to your accommodation, where you can take a well-deserved shower and enjoy a refreshing drink. The evening continues with festive activities and a delicious dinner waiting to be enjoyed.

It's a day filled with excitement, camaraderie and great food and drink, making Monteria a memorable experience for hunting enthusiasts who want to enjoy Spain's rich cultural heritage and culinary traditions.

The agenda

Our Monteria experience spans three days and involves around 30 hunters exploring two impressive and diverse hunting grounds - Valleviejas and Valdepuercas.

Day 1: Vallevie jacket

On the first day, we go hunting in Valleviejas, an area that covers about 1000 hectares and is fenced. Only our group hunts here, which provides an exclusive atmosphere. Each hunter can expect to include 2 red deer, mouflon or wild boar and 2 hinds/tails of red deer or mouflon per person. For those who wish to shoot additional male animals, this is possible at a cost of approximately €1,100 each.

Day 2: Valdepuercas

On the second day, we head to Valdepuercas, an open area covering 20,000 hectares. This is one of the largest privately owned lands in Spain and is organized by one of the most respected and traditional Monteria teams in the country. The Monteria is led by Captain Lolo de Juan, who offers a unique experience by leading the hunt from horseback. This includes 2 deer and 2 hinds (fallow or crown) per person, as well as the opportunity to freely hunt wild boar. To cover a larger area, some Spanish hunters will also join the hunt.

Day 3: Extremadura

The third and final day of our Monteria adventure takes us to Extremadura, another open and exciting hunting area. Here the main focus is on red deer and wild boar, and there are no restrictions - you are free to kill as many red deer and boar as the hunt allows. In particular, we hope to kill a significant amount of wild boar. Last year, this area was awarded the prize for the best open land Monteria in Spain, where the hunters managed to kill around 100 wild boar along with a number of hinds and stags.

The accommodation for this final part of the trip is in a delightful 4-star hotel located on a large golf course and a scenic lake. This allows you and your entire group to enjoy the comfort and beauty of the surroundings. Furthermore, it is only a 2-3 hour drive from Madrid, making it a convenient and easily accessible destination.

On the last evening of our Monteria trip, we finish in the big city of Madrid. Here we gather for a nice final dinner together. The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes, so each guest can choose what they want to eat and pay for their own meals. It's the perfect ending to an unforgettable hunting experience in Spain, where community and memories are key.
