Join us in Spain and experience Monteria - a unique and traditional form of hunting that combines passion, precision and pulse. Unlike regular driven hunts, Monteria only takes place once a year on each land, making each hunting day a powerful and well-organized wildlife conservation opportunity. With up to 500 dogs, 20-30 hunters and several hundred game on the move, this is a hunt you will never forget.
During the trip we hunt where the focus is on red deer and wild boar - and in some areas also fallow deer and mouflon. The day begins with breakfast and passport lottery on site, followed by intensive hunting where you are assisted by a personal hunting helper. After the hunt, a Spanish lunch awaits under the stars and a game parade where the day's results are presented.
Accommodation varies depending on the area - sometimes we stay in charming lodges in the middle of nature, other times in comfortable hotels in nearby towns. In the evenings, we enjoy good food, Spanish wines and the company of other hunters.
This is more than just hunting - it's an experience filled with tradition, flavors, laughter and memorable moments. A Monteria should be experienced at least once in a lifetime.

A Monteriaresa to Spain is so much more than just hunting. It's an experience that blends tradition, nature, flavors and community into something unforgettable.
The days start at a leisurely pace with breakfast at the accommodation before we roll out to the hunting ground. Once there, you are greeted by the excitement that can only come before the hunt. After the passport draw, you follow your personal hunting helper out into the terrain, with a small package of drinks and Spanish goodies in hand.
When the hounds are released and the skulls echo over the hills, the hunt is on. For several hours, the game passes at full speed - wild boar, red deer, fallow deer and sometimes even mouflon - while you stand ready for your pass, amid the drama and beauty of Spanish nature. Between shots, there's time to breathe, to just take it all in.
After the hunt, we gather for a classic Spanish lunch in the open air. Long tables with white tablecloths, grilled meat, paella and a glass of red in the sun. Stories and laughter are exchanged between hunters who share a passion. Once the food is eaten, the game parade awaits - a moment of respect and tradition.
The evenings are warm, social and relaxed. A shower, maybe a gin and tonic at sunset, followed by a dinner of good food, Spanish wines and conversations about the day's hunt. When night comes, you sleep soundly, surrounded by tranquillity, somewhere between olive groves and oak trees - and wake up with the feeling of doing it all again.
The morning: Recharging for the hunt
The day starts at a leisurely pace with a light breakfast at the accommodation, often around 07:30-08:00. Then it's off to the hunting ground where the atmosphere quickly builds. Once there, you'll be greeted by a set-up area with tents, coffee and traditional tapas - sometimes even a Spanish "second breakfast" with local specialties.
The draw for the passports takes place after the meeting. You will be given a number and a personal hunting assistant (secretary) who will accompany you to the pass. You will receive a small packet of drinks and tapas to enjoy during the hunt.
Morning: Monterian starts!
When all the hunters are in place, the dog barking starts to echo over the hills. The stand is up and running. For 3-5 hours, the game passes at full speed - wild boar, red deer, fallow deer and sometimes mouflon - while you follow the rhythm of the hunt from your pass. Between shots, there is time to take a break, enjoy the food and the Spanish landscape.
Afternoon: Hunting lunch and game parade
Once the hunt is over, everyone gathers at the assembly point. Here, a hearty Spanish lunch awaits under the stars, often with white tablecloths, red wine and classic dishes like paella or grilled game meat. The atmosphere is warm and social - stories from the hunt are exchanged over a glass of wine.
After dinner, a game parade is organized, where the day's killed game is displayed as a tribute to hunting and respect for the game. Then it's off back to the accommodation.
Evening: Community and rest
Once back, a shower awaits, perhaps a gin & tonic at sunset, and a little rest before the evening's dinner. Dinners are relaxed but festive - good company, good food, laughter and conversation about the day's hunt. Spanish wines, local specialties and sometimes a glass of brandy are often served with coffee.
The nights are calm and quiet. You sleep well - perhaps in a rural lodge or a comfortable hotel - recharged for the next day's adventure.
The accommodation for this trip is in a delightful 4-star hotel located on a large golf course and a scenic lake. This allows you and your whole group to enjoy the comfort and beauty of the surroundings. Plus, it's only a 2-3 hour drive from Madrid, making it a convenient and easily accessible destination.
On the last evening of our Monteria trip, we finish in the big city of Madrid. Here we gather for a nice final dinner together. The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes, so each guest can choose what they want to eat and pay for their own meals. It's the perfect ending to an unforgettable hunting experience in Spain, where community and memories are key.

The hunting grounds we use for our Monterias are scattered across different parts of central and southern Spain - often in hilly and game-rich areas where the landscape is dominated by open oak trees, scrubby bushes and dense groves. The landscape is not only beautiful, but also perfectly suited to the type of driven hunting that Monterias offer.
The terrain offers natural game passages and good visibility, but also areas with dense vegetation where the game likes to press. Several elevation changes are common, creating good shooting positions from safe and strategically placed passes.
Hunting grounds are often large - sometimes several thousand hectares - and well managed with a rich population of red deer, wild boar, and in some cases even fallow deer and mouflon. The game moves freely across the land and is pushed towards the shooters by well-trained dogs and experienced handlers.
All the areas we hunt are carefully selected in collaboration with professional organizers who have long experience of Monteria and the unique conditions of the areas. This guarantees not only a good supply of game, but also a safe, traditional and ethically conducted hunt.
Monteria is one of Europe's most traditional and spectacular forms of hunting - a Spanish driven hunt with roots stretching back hundreds of years. It combines hunting, culture and community in a way that creates an experience far beyond the ordinary.
Unlike many other drive hunts in Europe, Monteria is only held once a year in each area, meaning the hunt is intense and well-planned. For a few hours, hundreds of driving dogs push the game through the fields towards the hunters, who are positioned on safe passes.
The hunts take place in large game-rich areas and are organized with great respect for tradition and safety. Each hunter is allocated a pass by drawing lots in the morning and is often accompanied by a personal "secretary" who helps during the hunt - all to create security and make the experience as smooth as possible.
Monteria is not just about hunting, it's also about community, pride and respect for game. The day is framed by Spanish flavors, lively conversations and grand game parades - all in a landscape that breathes the soul of hunting.
For those looking for a unique experience with a high pulse, game in motion and a setting that only Spain can offer, Monteria is an obvious choice. It is a form of hunting that should be experienced at least once in a lifetime - and that many return to, year after year.

Learn how to cook classic Spanish dishes such as paella or tapas during a course with a local chef. Perfect for taking taste sensations home with you
For those who want to bring a piece of Spain home in the form of smells and flavors, a cooking class with a local chef is a great experience. For a few inspiring hours, you'll learn the basics of classic Spanish cooking - in a relaxed and social setting.
Spain is famous for its wines. A wine tasting is an opportunity to learn more about the region's specialties and enjoy tasty wines in beautiful surroundings.
Add a wine tasting to your Monteria trip and experience another side of Spain's rich culture. Visit a local bodega in the area - often a family-owned winery with a long tradition - where you can go behind the scenes and learn about wine production from grape to bottle.
During the tasting, you will taste several different wines from the region, often accompanied by small snacks such as cheese, charcuterie and bread. A knowledgeable guide will explain the different grape varieties, production methods and flavors, deepening the experience and giving a new perspective on Spanish wine tradition.
Taking place in beautiful surroundings - often in a courtyard, wine cellar or overlooking the vines - wine tasting is both relaxing and inspiring after a day in the woods.
As the hotel is located next to a golf course, a round of golf can be a nice break between hunting days or add an extra day for those who want to relax and enjoy the game.
For those who want to mix the intensity of the hunt with peace and quiet, there is a perfect opportunity - a round of golf in the Spanish sun. Our accommodation is located right next to a well-kept golf course, surrounded by beautiful scenery overlooking a sparkling lake and lush hills. Here you can take a step back, enjoy the fresh air and let the game take over.
I have been on several hunting trips, but Monterian in Spain was something completely different. It started in the morning with an amazing atmosphere before we hit the ground. Standing on the pass and hearing the dog's bark approaching was an incredible experience - intense, wild and just beautiful.
After the hunt, we gathered for lunch in the open air with a barbecue and wine, and the game parade was really something that made an impression. The evenings quickly became highlights in themselves
I went home with friends for life and a strong desire to book again!
Booking a hunting trip is often a long-awaited experience - and with the right preparation, it will be smooth, safe and memorable. Here are some key tips and advice to help you get the most out of your trip:
Choose the right hunt for you
Whether you are an experienced hunter or traveling for the first time, we will help you find the right trip based on your goals, experience and hunting style. Do you want to experience the thrill of a Monteria in Spain, a stealth hunt in Hungary or perhaps a wake hunt for wild boar? We will guide you in the right direction.
Be flexible - Hunting is Hunting
Hunting is always on nature's terms. The weather, the movement of the game and other circumstances can affect the outcome. Although the hunt is the goal, it is often the experience itself - the nature, the camaraderie and the thrill - that becomes the strongest memory.
We're with you all the way
When you book with Waidmann, you get access to a dedicated team with extensive experience in hunting travel. We're on hand before, during and after your trip - whether you need help with trip selection, documentation, gun logistics or something unexpected along the way.
Before your departure
Once you have booked your dream hunting trip with us, you will receive a booking confirmation by email. After that, we will ask you for some additional information, depending on your destination and type of hunting. Your trip will be saved in your Booking Portal where you can manage payments and find additional information for your trip.
For travel outside Europe, we send you two departure letters: the first one about two months before departure and the second one with all the final information, about 40 days before departure, in connection with the final payment. For travel within Europe, we send you a single departure letter around 40 days before departure.
In these departure letters you will find everything you need for your trip, from packing lists and clothing recommendations to tips, offers and information on additional pre-departure details. You will receive your flight tickets around 14 days before departure.
During your departure
During your hunting trip, it is good to keep track of any trapping fees. These are available both here on the website and in your booking portal. We are available on WhatsApp in the group we create a few days before departure, throughout your trip to help if needed or answer questions.
Tip. We really appreciate it when you share pictures and stories from your experiences.
After your departure
Once you are back home, full of impressions and memories of the hunt, trap fees may apply. These will be sent to you within 24 hours of your return and need to be paid immediately.
If you have chosen to bring trophies home, you will be contacted by our trophy management contact, who will inform you about the process, costs and next steps. Please note that depending on the country, it can take up to 2 years before your trophies are fully assembled and at your home. We always follow up and make sure you feel safe all the way, even after the journey is over.
Booking a hunting trip with Waidmann means security, quality and passion. We are one of Sweden's leading organizers of exclusive hunting trips and offer tailor-made experiences where every detail is carefully planned. With our personalized service, experienced guides and close partnerships with carefully selected hunting areas in Europe and Africa, we ensure that you get a hunting trip that exceeds your expectations - whether it's your first trip or your tenth.
With us, you're not just hunting - you're experiencing something bigger.
After the hunt, we ensure that your trophy is handled professionally and according to all applicable rules. Our local partners are responsible for the initial handling - often boiling and preparing for transportation. If you choose a more advanced mount, such as a bow mount, this is often carried out directly on site by local taxidermists. After that, export documents, veterinary certificates and customs documents are handled in cooperation with our experienced freight forwarders.
Waidmann offers help with the entire process - from on-site handling to transportation home. We are there to support you every step of the way and are happy to provide advice on installation and the choice of conservator. At the same time, you as a customer have full freedom to choose to manage the process on your own if you prefer.
The delivery time for trophies varies depending on the country of hunting and the type of trophy, but we will keep you updated throughout the process.
Going on a hunting trip means new experiences and memories for life. Unfortunately, it's not possible to control everything that happens, and sometimes unexpected things happen that can cause problems. So it's good to be insured both before and during your trip.
Often the travel protection included in home insurance and credit cards does not cover everything you need or want.
To make you feel as safe as possible when traveling with us, we have chosen to cooperate with Europeiska ERV, which has over 100 years in the industry. Together with Europeiska ERV, we offer their Travel Insurance Plus and Cancellation Protection. If you want to know more or want to take out an insurance, please contact us and we will help you with this.
The rules for using silencers vary from country to country. In Sweden and many other European countries, silencers are allowed and often recommended for hunting. However, in some countries, such as Spain, Poland, Serbia and Croatia, they are prohibited.
When you book a trip with Waidmann, you will always be given clear information about what applies in the hunting country in question.
Traveling with hunting weapons is possible, but it requires proper documentation and planning. Exactly what is needed depends on the country you are traveling to, but in general the following applies:
European travel: For hunting trips within the EU, a European firearms pass is required, which you apply for at the Police. We recommend that you apply directly when booking, as the processing time can be several weeks. You also need to notify Swedish Customs that you are taking your firearm out of the country. In most cases, a special invitation or hunting license is also required from the country you are going to hunt in - we at Waidmann will make sure you get this in good time.
Read more on the Police website
Travel outside the EU: For example, for Africa or other continents, a temporary arms export via the Swedish Customs is usually required, as well as a hunting license, invitation and sometimes a temporary import license. Rules vary from country to country, but Waidmann ensures that everything is handled correctly from the start, so you avoid uncertainty and hassle upon entry.
Air transportation: Your weapon must be transported in an approved, lockable gun case or bag. Ammunition is packed separately according to the airline's security rules. Weapon transportation must be notified to the airline in advance - if Waidmann books your flight, we will handle this notification and the entire process for you.
Waidmann has extensive experience in hunting trips with weapons and is with you throughout the process. You will receive clear instructions and the right documentation in good time before departure. If you want to travel without your own weapon, it is often possible to rent weapons on site, depending on the destination.
You can definitely book as a solo hunter with Waidmann! We offer both planned trips for single hunters, as well as small and large groups.
We welcome all hunters, whether you are alone or traveling with a group. Many of our hunters find that a hunting trip is a great opportunity to make new friends in hunting. Several of our 'bonded' groups have continued to hunt together years after their first hunting trip with Waidmann.
For those looking for a more personalized experience, we tailor hunting trips for both individual hunters and smaller groups. We also arrange trips for larger groups, where we adapt the experience to the specific needs and wishes of the group. In addition, we have the opportunity to combine several smaller groups to create a common hunting experience, which provides both variety and community.
Whether you are traveling alone or with a group, you can be sure that at Waidmann we will customize your trip to give you the best possible experience.
Booking a hunting trip with Waidmann is easy and we offer several convenient payment options. Here are the steps for booking and payment:
Booking and booking portal: Once you have booked your hunting trip, you will have access to your personal booking portal. In the booking portal, you pay a booking fee of 30% of the total amount of the trip, which must be paid within 10 days for the booking to be confirmed.
In the booking portal, you manage your entire trip - you fill in your contact details, make payments and receive ongoing updates and all important information before departure. Everything in one place.
Flight booking: If Waidmann books the flight for you, the flight cost is paid in full as a second payment at the time of booking the flight.
Final payment: The remaining amount is paid closer to departure, and the final payment must be made at least 40 days before departure.
Trap fees, if any: If there are trap fees, these are payable 24 hours after returning from the trip.
Payment: You can easily pay by card, Trustly, Swish or invoice. If you would like an invoice, please contact us and we will arrange it for you.
Cancellation: In case of cancellation, the following cancellation fees apply:
30% of the price of the trip between the time of booking and 40 days before departure.
100% of the price of the trip between 39 days before departure and the day of departure itself.
Flights: If the flight is booked by Waidmann and you cancel the trip, the flight price is paid at 100%.
We recommend that you take out cancellation insurance, especially for exclusive or long-distance trips, to protect yourself against unforeseen events. We offer cancellation cover through ERV.
For questions about payment, booking or cancellation, you are always welcome to contact us. We are here to help you through the whole process.
We recommend that you book your hunting trip at least 6-18 months in advance, especially if you have specific preferences for the type of hunt, destination or timing. Some trips, such as those to popular destinations in high season or with a limited number of places, book up quickly.
However, it is often no problem to book at short notice, as long as there is availability. We have good experience of helping hunters out at short notice when the opportunity exists.
For exclusive or tailor-made hunting trips, as well as trips outside Europe that require more extensive documentation and planning, it is a clear advantage to be in the know well in advance. It gives us a better chance of securing the best hunting grounds, accommodation and flight connections - and you'll have plenty of time to arrange permits, gun exports and other preparations at your leisure.
Absolutely, many of our guests are making their very first hunting trip abroad with us. We have a lot of experience in looking after first-timers and making sure you feel safe throughout the process.
We help you with everything from choosing the right type of hunt and destination to preparation, documentation and equipment. During the trip, you will always have access to experienced guides and organizers who will support you both practically and mentally in the hunt.
For those who do not have their own equipment or want to travel light, it is usually possible to rent weapons and other equipment on site. We also adapt the level of difficulty, organization and expectations to your level of experience.
Whether it's your first hunting trip or you've been out many times before, we'll make sure you have a personalized and professionally executed experience.
