Monteria is a traditional Spanish driven hunt for hoofed game, where we hunt red deer, wild boar, fallow deer and mouflon. The hunt involves many drivers and dogs as well as marksmen, usually in mountains or open spaces. We hunt one sow per day on 500-2000 hectares, ranging from completely open fields to larger fenced areas.
As there is only one hunt per year in Spain, we often take a large number of game during our Monterias. We shoot anywhere from 50 to 200+ game per day per group, although we usually shoot around 100 game per day.
In addition to the thrill of the hunt, a Monteria also offers socializing with good food and drink. The hunting day ends with an afterhunt and game parade, followed by a nice dinner. Waidmann's Monterias focus on offering a holistic experience with excellent hunting, comfortable accommodation and delicious food. The trips often end with a celebratory dinner in Madrid or another major city before returning home.
