Shooting fees

What is a Shooting fee:

A trapping fee is a cost incurred when a game animal is trapped during a hunting trip. The fee is often based on the animal's trophy size, species, sex, weight - for example, the shape of its horns or tusks. Trapping fees are a common part of hunting management in many countries and serve as an important incentive for responsible hunting.

Why are there Shooting fees:

Shooting fees are an important part of the setup of many of our trips, and they enable responsible and long-term wildlife management. The revenue from these fees is used by local hunting organizations to fund all their activities - from inventory and game management to land maintenance, staff salaries, game damage prevention and administration. Without shooting fees, it would be difficult to conduct hunting that is both sustainable and well-organized.

Important to consider:

The amount of the shooting fee depends on what is shot. In some cases, there is a fixed price per game, while in others it is determined by the type and size of the trophy. It is also important to note that in some cases, game shot or injured and not found may be subject to a fee.

And remember - hunting is hunting. There are no guarantees about what will happen during the hunting days. Game movements, weather conditions, hunting luck and other factors always come into play. This is what makes hunting alive, exciting and real.

Another important factor is the hunter's own skill. Experience, reaction time, accuracy and the ability to read the terrain vary greatly between different hunters. Our job is to create the best possible conditions through well-organized arrangements and experienced guides - but the hunt itself and the result are always on nature's and the hunter's terms.

On the payment of trap fees:

Payment is generally made as follows: When you return from your trip, you will receive a summary list of the game you have killed and the total amount of the trapping fees, in your booking portal. This sum must be paid within three days, unless otherwise agreed. The measurement of any trophies is usually done by the organizer and forms the basis of the final fee.

Our promise to you:

At Waidmann, transparency and security are always in focus. You will be fully informed about what is included in your hunting trip and what possible trapping fees may apply - no surprises. We only work with professional and reputable operators who work according to clear and ethical guidelines. You can rest assured that everything is correct, so you can focus on the hunt and the experience.

Daily program

Here you can read more about what a typical hunting day can look like in Hungary. There will be intense days during the red deer rut hunt.

Morning - The hunt begins
The day starts early, as you head out to the hunting grounds before sunrise. The hunt takes place in the morning light when the deer are most active and roar to attract a partner. After a restorative breakfast at the accommodation, you head out to stalk through the terrain. The hunt is intense and focused, and always takes place in 1:1 hunting form where your guide leads the way. You'll stalk through forest and fields, listening to the roar of the deer and looking for a large and impressive trophy.

Morning - Recovery and rest
After the morning's hunt, you will return to the accommodation for a shared breakfast, where you will enjoy traditional local food and gather to reflect on the day's hunt. As the hunt starts so early in the morning, many people take the opportunity to take a nap and rest during the morning. This rest will re-energize you for the upcoming afternoon's hunt.

Lunch - Food and rest
After a good breakfast and a short rest, it's time for lunch. A tasty and nutritious meal is served here to help you recover and recharge for the afternoon's hunt. Many people take a few hours to rest and be rested for the next session, as the afternoon can be as intense and adrenaline-filled as the morning.

Afternoon - Continued hunting
After lunch, it's time to prepare for the afternoon hunt. Here you will once again sneak out onto the hunting grounds, where the hunt continues during the deer's active period. The goal is to find your dream deer - a trophy with great potential. The afternoon is often a little more strategic, as the deer can move further and more carefully. With the help of your guide, the hunt continues until sunset.

Afterhunt - Relaxation and fellowship
After the hunt, you will gather for a short afterhunt where you can discuss the day's experiences and enjoy a drink together. It's a relaxed and convivial opportunity to share hunting memories and socialize with the other hunters before dinner.

Evening - Dinner and rest
The evening ends with a delicious dinner, where local Hungarian dishes are served in a relaxed and social atmosphere. Here you can enjoy good food, drinks and talk about the day's hunt, before it's time to go to bed for a short night. As tomorrow brings new hunting opportunities, you'll want to be rested and ready for the next intense day of hunting.

Night - Rest for the next day
After an intense day of hunting and socializing, it's time to sleep and recharge for a new hunting experience. The short night gives you enough rest to be back on your feet and ready to face the next day's adventure.

The hunting ground in Hungary

World-class hunting grounds - Hungary's red deer paradise

Our hunt takes place on one of Hungary's most renowned lands, located in the south-western part of the country. The area covers more than 30,000 hectares of contiguous land, providing the perfect environment for red deer hunting during the rut. Open fields, mixed deciduous forests and hilly terrain coexist here - a varied and natural biotope that creates ideal conditions for large and strong deer.

The country is known for its powerful red deer, which are often of higher trophy quality than in many other European countries - such as Poland. Stags weighing between 8 and 11 kg are often harvested here, with some very nice trophies weighing over 11 kg being taken every year. During the rutting season, the forests are filled with powerful roars, and the hunt takes place on foot in the form of classic stealth hunting - an intense and unforgettable experience where you follow the sound of roaring deer in search of your dream trophy.

The hunting organization that manages the land is one of the most professional in the country, with long experience of international hunters. Everything from planning to execution is of a very high standard. Guiding is personalized and 1:1, and each hunt is led by knowledgeable and dedicated people with deep knowledge of the game, the land and the culture of hunting.

In addition to the intensive red deer hunting during the rut, the area also offers very good opportunities for hunting roebuck, fallow deer and wild boar - all with strong populations and good trophy chances. Regardless of the species, the hunt focuses on quality and respectful handling of both game and nature.

If you're looking for a hunt where organization, quality and big trophies take center stage, this area of Hungary is one of the best options in Europe.

The form of hunting - Rutting of red deer

Red Deer Rutting - One of Europe's most fascinating hunting experiences

The red deer rut is undoubtedly one of the most intense and magnificent hunts that nature has to offer. For a few weeks in September, when the red deer rut is at its most intense, the forest is filled with the characteristic and powerful roar of the deer - a primal sound that echoes through the landscape and raises the pulse of every hunter.

The hunt is usually a stealth or wake hunt, where the hunter's ability to read the terrain, wind and animal behavior is put to the test. During the rut, deer are particularly active, territorial and reckless, creating unique opportunities to get close to big deer that are otherwise very difficult to spot.

Rutting requires patience, an understanding of game behavior and a delicate balance between presence and invisibility. Sneaking up on a roar in the misty dawn or standing guard at a known rut site and hearing several deer challenge each other is an extraordinary experience - a combination of drama, beauty and primal power.

For many, the red deer rut is the highlight of the hunting year, not only for the opportunity to bag a majestic animal, but also for the deep connection with nature and the intense atmosphere that surrounds the hunt.

I have hunted a lot in Poland before and shot nice deer but this beat everything. Two solid silver medals in three days in Hungary! That says it all. What a ground!

The customer story

A magical hunting morning in Hungary

Kristian explains:

I will never forget that morning in Hungary. The sun was rising and all was quiet as we crept through the forest. Our hearts were pounding when we heard the first roar of a big red deer in the distance. We knew immediately that we were close.

After a couple of hours of sneaking through the morning humid forest, we came to a clearing, where I suddenly saw it. A huge stag, standing with its horns against the morning light. I didn't hesitate for a second, as soon as the guide said ok I shot.

When we arrived at the deer I was completely overwhelmed. He guessed at just over 9kg, but in the end weighed even more and qualified for a high silver medal! An amazing trophy! It felt like a dream. I have hunted crown in the rut for years, but this was something completely unique. A hunting morning I will never forget.

Choose the right hunt for you

Be flexible - Hunting is Hunting

Hunting is always on nature's terms. The weather, the movement of the game and other circumstances can affect the outcome. Although the hunt is the goal, it is often the experience itself - the nature, the camaraderie and the thrill - that becomes the strongest memory.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions

Why should I book a trip with Waidmann?

Booking a hunting trip with Waidmann means security, quality and passion. We are one of Sweden's leading organizers of exclusive hunting trips and offer tailor-made experiences where every detail is carefully planned. With our personalized service, experienced guides and close partnerships with carefully selected hunting areas in Europe and Africa, we ensure that you get a hunting trip that exceeds your expectations - whether it's your first trip or your tenth.

With us, you're not just hunting - you're experiencing something bigger.

How does trophy handling and possible repatriation work?

After the hunt, we ensure that your trophy is handled professionally and according to all applicable rules. Our local partners are responsible for the initial handling - often boiling and preparing for transportation. If you choose a more advanced mount, such as a bow mount, this is often carried out directly on site by local taxidermists. After that, export documents, veterinary certificates and customs documents are handled in cooperation with our experienced freight forwarders.

Waidmann offers help with the entire process - from on-site handling to transportation home. We are there to support you every step of the way and are happy to provide advice on installation and the choice of conservator. At the same time, you as a customer have full freedom to choose to manage the process on your own if you prefer.

The delivery time for trophies varies depending on the country of hunting and the type of trophy, but we will keep you updated throughout the process.

How does insurance work?

Going on a hunting trip means new experiences and memories for life. Unfortunately, it's not possible to control everything that happens, and sometimes unexpected things happen that can cause problems. So it's good to be insured both before and during your trip.

Often the travel protection included in home insurance and credit cards does not cover everything you need or want.

To make you feel as safe as possible when traveling with us, we have chosen to cooperate with Europeiska ERV, which has over 100 years in the industry. Together with Europeiska ERV, we offer their Travel Insurance Plus and Cancellation Protection. If you want to know more or want to take out an insurance, please contact us and we will help you with this.

Are silencers allowed?

The rules for using silencers vary from country to country. In Sweden and many other European countries, silencers are allowed and often recommended for hunting. However, in some countries, such as Spain, Poland, Serbia and Croatia, they are prohibited.

When you book a trip with Waidmann, you will always be given clear information about what applies in the hunting country in question.

How can I bring my hunting weapon?

Traveling with hunting weapons is possible, but it requires proper documentation and planning. Exactly what is needed depends on the country you are traveling to, but in general the following applies:

  • European travel: For hunting trips within the EU, a European firearms pass is required, which you apply for at the Police. We recommend that you apply directly when booking, as the processing time can be several weeks. You also need to notify Swedish Customs that you are taking your firearm out of the country. In most cases, a special invitation or hunting license is also required from the country you are going to hunt in - we at Waidmann will make sure you get this in good time.
Read more on the Police website

  • Travel outside the EU: For example, for Africa or other continents, a temporary arms export via the Swedish Customs is usually required, as well as a hunting license, invitation and sometimes a temporary import license. Rules vary from country to country, but Waidmann ensures that everything is handled correctly from the start, so you avoid uncertainty and hassle upon entry.

  • Air transportation: Your weapon must be transported in an approved, lockable gun case or bag. Ammunition is packed separately according to the airline's security rules. Weapon transportation must be notified to the airline in advance - if Waidmann books your flight, we will handle this notification and the entire process for you.

Waidmann has extensive experience in hunting trips with weapons and is with you throughout the process. You will receive clear instructions and the right documentation in good time before departure. If you want to travel without your own weapon, it is often possible to rent weapons on site, depending on the destination.

Can I book as a single hunter or do we have to be a group?

You can definitely book as a solo hunter with Waidmann! We offer both planned trips for single hunters, as well as small and large groups.

We welcome all hunters, whether you are alone or traveling with a group. Many of our hunters find that a hunting trip is a great opportunity to make new friends in hunting. Several of our 'bonded' groups have continued to hunt together years after their first hunting trip with Waidmann.

For those looking for a more personalized experience, we tailor hunting trips for both individual hunters and smaller groups. We also arrange trips for larger groups, where we adapt the experience to the specific needs and wishes of the group. In addition, we have the opportunity to combine several smaller groups to create a common hunting experience, which provides both variety and community.

Whether you are traveling alone or with a group, you can be sure that at Waidmann we will customize your trip to give you the best possible experience.

How does booking and payment work?

Booking a hunting trip with Waidmann is easy and we offer several convenient payment options. Here are the steps for booking and payment:

  1. Booking and booking portal: Once you have booked your hunting trip, you will have access to your personal booking portal. In the booking portal, you pay a booking fee of 30% of the total amount of the trip, which must be paid within 10 days for the booking to be confirmed.
In the booking portal, you manage your entire trip - you fill in your contact details, make payments and receive ongoing updates and all important information before departure. Everything in one place.

  2. Flight booking: If Waidmann books the flight for you, the flight cost is paid in full as a second payment at the time of booking the flight.

  3. Final payment: The remaining amount is paid closer to departure, and the final payment must be made at least 40 days before departure.

  4. Trap fees, if any: If there are trap fees, these are payable 24 hours after returning from the trip.

  5. Payment: You can easily pay by card, Trustly, Swish or invoice. If you would like an invoice, please contact us and we will arrange it for you.

  6. Cancellation: In case of cancellation, the following cancellation fees apply:

    • 30% of the price of the trip between the time of booking and 40 days before departure.

    • 100% of the price of the trip between 39 days before departure and the day of departure itself.

    • Flights: If the flight is booked by Waidmann and you cancel the trip, the flight price is paid at 100%.

We recommend that you take out cancellation insurance, especially for exclusive or long-distance trips, to protect yourself against unforeseen events. We offer cancellation cover through ERV.

For questions about payment, booking or cancellation, you are always welcome to contact us. We are here to help you through the whole process.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend that you book your hunting trip at least 6-18 months in advance, especially if you have specific preferences for the type of hunt, destination or timing. Some trips, such as those to popular destinations in high season or with a limited number of places, book up quickly.

However, it is often no problem to book at short notice, as long as there is availability. We have good experience of helping hunters out at short notice when the opportunity exists.

For exclusive or tailor-made hunting trips, as well as trips outside Europe that require more extensive documentation and planning, it is a clear advantage to be in the know well in advance. It gives us a better chance of securing the best hunting grounds, accommodation and flight connections - and you'll have plenty of time to arrange permits, gun exports and other preparations at your leisure.

Can I go on a hunting trip as a beginner?

Absolutely, many of our guests are making their very first hunting trip abroad with us. We have a lot of experience in looking after first-timers and making sure you feel safe throughout the process.

We help you with everything from choosing the right type of hunt and destination to preparation, documentation and equipment. During the trip, you will always have access to experienced guides and organizers who will support you both practically and mentally in the hunt.

For those who do not have their own equipment or want to travel light, it is usually possible to rent weapons and other equipment on site. We also adapt the level of difficulty, organization and expectations to your level of experience.

Whether it's your first hunting trip or you've been out many times before, we'll make sure you have a personalized and professionally executed experience.
