mouflon

The mouflon is a robust game sheep that lives in rocky and hilly areas, often with steep slopes that place high demands on the hunter. Their twisted horns can grow large and heavy, and are sought-after trophies. Bucks weigh 30-50 kg. The species is mainly found in the Mediterranean, especially on islands such as Corsica and Sardinia, but has also spread to parts of southern Europe. Hunting requires good fitness and familiarity with mountainous terrain, and shooting positions are often challenging. The mouflon is very vigilant and can quickly disappear in the difficult terrain.

  • Type of hunting: Stealth and driven hunting in steep terrain.
  • Geographical distribution: Mediterranean, Corsica, Sardinia, parts of southern Europe.
  • Tips: Hunting requires physical strength and planning. Shooting angles can be difficult, avoid stressed animals.
